Technical Summary
I am a self-taught programmer who spent ten years developing software for business management applications prior to moving into technical project management. I have extensive experience with database design & modeling and data normalization. I also have extensive experience with data conversion – mapping source & target data files and writing the conversion specifications, (and in many cases writing the actual conversion programs), for them. All this programming, database and conversion work naturally required me to develop deep skills in debugging and troubleshooting. I have implemented distributed database applications, client-server applications, web-based apps and stand-alone applications. I have experience in DOS, Windows, AS/400, OS X and web-server environments. I have experience with data acquisition via bar-codes, mag-stripe, RF, EDI and proprietary data formats as well as more conventional means. I’ve written software applications specifically for the fitness, banking, construction, retail and distribution industries, as well as designed and delivered documentation and training programs for those applications.
